So I initially began this blog as a way to write about my random experiences in the DC area. I've written about everything from dating, to providing Restaurant Reviews and Things-To-Do in DC, as well as what I call Savvy Tips on shopping and finances.
After going to a few presentations on Blogging and Social Media, I've been thinking maybe I should become more focused on one topic and stick to blogging on that particular subject. Is it okay to have a blog that is very random where one post is about a horrible date, the next is on politics and the next focuses on Community Service?
As a reader of my blog, what do you think? Which area(s) would you like to see me focus on? While I am a random person, who can write on practically any topic, I think it's time for me to focus on one or two subjects, okay maybe even three.
Should I focus on dating/relationships, DC Life & Culture, what's wrong with the world, current events, etc? Feedback is needed.
I love variety, but I would narrow it down to a broader subject, that way you provide variety but it's all cohesive. Like my blog is about my life as I deal with my separation and divorce. That's a broad enough subject, so whether I blog about dating, or partying, or marriage, it's all relevant. I would do DC life and culture. God knows there are enough dating and relationship blogs out there, and as a reader, I don't really want to read about what's wrong with the world. I live in it, I think we all know that topic first hand, lol! Whatever you decide stay true to your own voice. We like it :)
ReplyDeletei say write about whatever you feel. my blog is just as random. *shrug* it's like a box of chocolates. lol
ReplyDeleteI started to read your blog since i felt inspired by hearing about the "day to day" life of someone similar to myself: Black, Independent, Twenty-somethinish female enjoying life in dc.
ReplyDeleteIn other words keep doing what your doing! I want to read about your dates, socialising in dc, your friends, your jobs, heck even your rants! keep up the good blog
I wrote a comment yesterday but I second what Tunde and Tix said.
ReplyDeleteAs a new follower to your blog I say write what you feel. I do like what one person previously said. For example, if you want to focus on DC Culture, you can encompass so much of what you already discuss, ie dating, socializing, going out. Sometimes I wish my blog wasn't so narrow; at times I'm tempted to start another one! But I digress... To answer your question, I say write what you feel. We are all complex people, so whatever you write is sure to capture the attention (and maybe responses) from your followers.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what Tunde and Tix said. being random is what makes it you. you do a good job of covering things that matter to you as it is a personal blog. Now if you are trying to expand to a brand of some sort, then maybe it won't be as personal--but I happen to like your blog as is :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments. Looks like I'll be sticking with my randomness for now. :-)
ReplyDeletethat works for us :)
